There is a fence near my house at the bottom of a hill, and it has thick, full passion fruit vines growing all over it. There are so many! When I first saw the green passion fruit hanging all over it, I had no idea what they were.
Then I learned they were PASSION FRUIT and I began stalking those seemingly abandoned vines for ripe fruit.
It’s took over a year of looking to get some, but I finally did it!
It seems strange that it took so long to finally be there to grab the ripe fruits, so my best guess is that I am not the only stalker, or they drop to the ground and vermen immediately crawl out of their dark hiding places to snatch the juicy, fruit filled orbs for themselves.
Either way, I have finally prevailed!
I was able to grab about 9 passion fruit of varying sizes. I think there were a couple more, but that was all I could carry, and I didn’t want to be completely selfish – I mean, the vermen have to eat, right?
When I got them home, the obvious question was what to do with them?
A quick Pinterest search for inspiration turned up a ton of dessert and drink recipes. But I didn’t feel like using them in a drink, and baking isn’t really my first instinct.
I knew then that I wanted to use them in a savory application.
So, I broke one open and ate it up, hoping the flavor and taste experience would inspire me.
