The holidays are here! So much to do, and so much good food to eat. And A LOT of desserts to be consumed.
I’m all for the classics. I love a good pie or chocolate truffle, but when you’re trying to keep from gaining the holiday hefty look, you’ll be looking for lighter, healthier dessert options.
That’s where this Grain Free Goat Cheese Tart with Cranberries & Cinnamon comes in!
Inspired by Montchevre’s cranberry cinnamon goat cheese log, I decided to make a healthier holiday dessert that is creamy and has all of the festive holiday flavors we all love.
Goat cheese is naturally high in protein, vitamin D and calcium, plus it’s easier to digest than cow’s cheese because it contains less lactose. It’s a better choice when you’re trying to avoid dairy, and it’s a great option to cut in when you’re trying to lighten up a dairy heavy dessert, like I’ve done here.
Whipped together with mascarpone cheese, you end up with a creamy, light no bake goat cheese tart filling that will not leave you feeling heavy or weighed down.
The crust is keto approved and completely grain free. It bakes up to a lovely golden brown and holds its shape like a traditional pie crust, but it’s naturally gluten-free!
You could absolutely take a short cut on this recipe by using store bought pie crust (if you don’t care about the gluten or grains) and store bought cranberry sauce, but I really urge you to take the extra time and make your own. It will taste so much better!
This cranberry sauce, BTW, is DELICIOUS. Make it as stated in this recipe to serve with your Thanksgiving dinner! Then use the leftovers on your goat cheese tart afterward.
One of the things I love about Montchevre’s brand of goat cheese is that they are Non-GMO, and they only use fresh goat milk collected from local farms they know and trust.
When you can trust a company to provide you with quality products, it takes some of the worry off of your mind, especially when you have little ones and you want to make sure you are only giving them wholesome food to fuel their tiny, growing bodies.
This Grain Free Goat Cheese Tart with Cranberries and Cinnamon is a light dessert perfect for pairing with wine or coffee. It’s not too sweet, and you won’t feel like you overindulged afterward. It’s just right for the holidays!
In addition to the classic goat cheese logs and the cranberry cinnamon log I’ve used in this recipe, Montchevre has 4 other flavors for you: pumpkin, blueberry vanilla, truffle and jalapeno. Don’t they all sound delicious?
