I go in and out of liking cottage cheese and fruit for breakfast. Sometimes I want to eat a really delicious breakfast like my Sweet & Salty French Toast with Mixed Berry Sauce. However, cottage cheese and fruit is currently the rage in my kitchen. Especially with Thanksgiving right around the corner, I want to eat really well leading up to it. I mean, I will definitely be indulging a little too much on Thanksgiving. And most likely the day after. And then after that it’s the weekend and who can eat well on the weekend? So, this week I’m trying to be conscious of putting healthful things into my body.
Some may not look at cottage cheese as being healthy, but the it comes in a variety of fat contents and the fat that is actually in it serves as a source of healthy fatty acids. Not to mention, it’s a great source of protein.
Generally, I enjoy cottage cheese with fruit like pineapple or something else with a very strong flavor, but you can’t beat cottage cheese with fruit of many different kinds. A variety of whatever kinds of fruit you have in your kitchen makes this breakfast bowl seem uber fancy and like something you would be served in a restaurant.
If you want a little extra sweetness, drizzle this cottage cheese and fruit with some honey or even a little maple syrup. Add some chocolate chips for a bit of morning decadence or if serving as a dessert!
